The point of our project was to educate people on Google Bookmarks (it's features, uses, etc...). We also showed how Google Bookmarks can help aid in both teaching and learning.
I am a very organized person, and I like having everything in order. Google Bookmarks is amazing. I absolutely love it and cannot imagine going back to the time before I knew it existed. I used to have an incredible amount of bookmarks on my laptop. However, every time I needed to get to a website off someone else's computer, I was stuck. After this project began, I made my own Google Bookmarks. It has been so awesome being able to access all my sites from any computer, at any time. It has already saved me so much time and helped me with my research for our project. I contributed to the uses of Google Bookmarks and what it's used for slides. I wrote a reflection, as well. I tried linking our project to this post and adding our slideshow, but I cannot get it to work. I will continue trying.

Social Media Revolution
I will admit the fact that Ashton Kutcher and Britney Spears have more followers on Twitter than there are people in Sweden is a little disturbing to me. It is amazing that so many people follow people on Twitter. This just goes to show that technology and social media have become so important to us, influencing the way we develop and learn. It is not surprising, of course, but some of the statistics were definitely not what I expected. However, it makes sense that if Facebook were a country, it would be the world's third largest. I even see how YouTube has become the second largest search engine on the web. The fact is growing technology and social media are the norms now. We don't have to search for the news, the news finds us. As an educator, being aware of the social media outlets will inevitably help you to teach your students. I recently took a class on Women in Rock & Roll, and the use of YouTube was imperative to learning what the professor was teaching. I personally believe having so many outlets for information is helpful for students and makes learning easier and more interesting for many of them. They, as well as most of us, already spend so much time on these sites that it only makes sense to use them as teaching tools.
I will add my Yodio, as soon as I figure out how to do it. :)

Blogging in Education
Blogging is basically a way for people to share information. It can use words and images to describe anything and everything. Using a blog as a tool in education and the classroom would be beneficial because, as a teacher, you can use a blog as another way to get your point across and teach your lesson. It would also benefit your students and their parents because you could post many helpful resources on your blog.
You could:
*Post images and links to other sites as resources.
*Post class notes to the site as a reference for students.
*Post homework assignments.
*Post test and due dates.
*Post a school calendar.
Students and parents could also use the blog as a way to communicate with you and each other. Students can ask each other questions or have discussions about assignments or readings. Parents can discuss their child's assignments with you if they have questions, as well.

My Bio
My name Kara Buchheit, and I am working toward my master's degree at Willamette University. I graduated from Oregon State in 2006 with a Liberal Arts degree, and I have been an instructional assistant for Gervais School District for almost 6 years. Within this district, I have worked with high school, junior high school, and elementary school students. I will be getting my master's in elementary education because of all the grades, kinder through second or third grades are my favorites.
My family is awesome. My dad works for the same school district as I do, and my mom owns and works in a hair salon. I have an older brother and a younger sister. My extended family is huge, considering both of my parents are one of six kids. So, I'm really close with a lot of cousins, too, which is cool. We are all really close, which I love.
When I'm not working, I love to travel. I like seeing places I've never been before. I've been to quite a few places. Last year was Costa Rica and Chicago. This year is going to be Victoria and Hawaii. Then, I'm taking a break until next summer. After graduation, I'm hoping to go on a month-long trip to Europe. Of course, I also go to Los Angeles about five times a year to visit my brother, too, which is always fun.
I also love sports, especially basketball, football, and baseball. I play in a co-ed softball league and have just started playing in a flag football league. Although I graduated from Oregon State, I have been a Ducks fan my whole life, thanks to my dad. I am obviously a Blazer fan being born and raised in Oregon. My grandparents had season tickets while we were growing up, so we got to go to a lot of games. The Braves are my favorite baseball team because my brother watched them on TV all the time when we were kids, so we became fans. As for the NFL, I don't really have a favorite team. I did play fantasy football this year, though, so I ended up having some favorite players, of course.
